FTC Regulations For Affiliate Marketers

Written by admin on October 7, 2009 – 4:18 am -

The Big Lebowski of Internet Marketing – Frank Kern – just published a blog post regarding the new FTC regulations.

And there are SERIOUS regulations. The FTC wants to get rid of online scammers, and they have heavy artillery set up to get the job done. Personally, I think it’s GOOD that the FTC is doing something against the scammers.

BUT: it can be really scary. Because the FTC isn’t exactly helpful when it comes to explaining what exactly you have to do to comply with their regulations.

Lucky for you and me, there are guys like Frankius Kernikus, who help to make sense out of it all. And while nothing can replace the advice of a lawyer who knows his stuff, Frankius Kernikus does a great job translating his understanding of the whole issue into Kernese.

So I suggest you check out what Frank Kern has to say on the new FTC regulations.

Ebay Affiliates: Ebay Changes To Click Pricing

Written by admin on August 20, 2009 – 5:16 am -

Ebay is changing their affiliate system. Before, it used to be that you get money for each person that either signed up for ebay, or purchased an item. Now, they’re going to pay on a per click basis. However, they got some magic algorhythms that calculate the money you get per click based on the revenues they generate.

So: if you bring them lots of garbage clicks that don’t convert, then your earnings per click will be very low. If, on the other hand, you bring them lots of clicks that bring them new cutomers, or generate sales, then your earnings per click will be higher.

These changes will go into effect for existing ebay affiliates on October 1st.

We can’t really say if this is good or bad for affiliates. I think it definitely encourages some people who are already involved in trading garbage traffic to do so for ebays affiliate program too, even if their per click payouts are low. Hopefully, it’s gonna turn out fine for the ones that send quality traffic.

Smart Affiliates Build Their Own Assets & Brands

Written by admin on August 11, 2009 – 12:44 am -

Jonathan Mizel shares a great strategy for affiliate marketers. He buys a domain for every product he wants to promote, and makes sure that it is a generic domain for that market, NOT one that is specifically for that product. This way, he is never tied to just that product, in case their affiliate program ever changes.

Plus, on that domain he creates an assett that is bigger than the product he is actually promoting.

One great advantage is that on your own domain, you can rotate your offers so that you know which one converts best, which is another huge advantage.

If you are doing any affiliate marketing, check this out.

A high paying niche

Written by admin on July 22, 2009 – 2:02 am -

Many people think the only profitable niches are about making money online, or mortgages or credit repair…
But something like hairloss can be extremely profitable. Look, you could just create a authority site about hairloss in a local area, sign up for an affiliate program and get up to $250 – not for a sale, but for a LEAD!
Think about that. The guy that you send over doesn’t even have to buy anything, or spend any money. He just has to show up for a consultation at the local clinic and you get $250. Is that sweet or what? Send four people to a consultation, and no matter if they sign up for the program or not – you get $1000.

(Of course, yes, it’s a highly competitive market and so on. But you can successfully work in that niche by just sticking to the basics and doing it right and consistently – no social media magic, no super-SEO, no PPC-ninja tricks needed).

If You’re Not Making Sales… Read This

Written by admin on July 18, 2009 – 11:39 am -

If you’re not making at least a couple of sales a week… read this post by Stephen Pierce on how to make money as an affiliate by giving away free ebooks.

I’ve done that in the past, and it works… and I haven’t even submitted to nearly as many of the directories that he mentions.

I’ve even uploaded ebooks to those filesharing-sites (rapidshare, etc.) and placed affiliates in them, and made some money from those. (These were MY OWN ebooks that I had 100% rights to do everything I wanted with, because I had them written for me. NEVER upload something to a filesharing site if you don’t have the rights to do so).
