Twitter: It’s not about the numbers, it’s about the relationship

Written by admin on July 20, 2009 – 2:15 pm -

Too many people focus on the numbers when it comes to Twitter. “How many followers do I have?”

It’s a high-school kind of ego-thing. The more followers, the more popular we are.

At least that’s the equation in our mind.

But it`s not about the amount of followers you have. It’s about the relationship you have with your followers.

It’s better to have 50 people following you who know, like and trust you, than it is to have 5803 people following you who don’t give a shit.

Joel Comm says it this way: Build Communities, Not Followers, on Twitter.

John Reese says the same thing in 5 Reasons Why Twitter Auto-Follow Is Bad Marketing.

Case Study: Auto-Tweeting Blog Comments

Written by admin on April 4, 2009 – 7:10 am -

Should bloggers auto-tweet their blog comments? (There’s a blog plugin that does that). Ian Fernando wanted to find it out and did a little experiment. The result? He found it’s not worth it, you can read here why. (However, it might be different for YOUR case. But the point of case studies is to provide you with some real-life data so you can then decide: do I want to try this or not?)
